Rattataki

Rattatak remained undiscovered by the Galactic Republic until after the Clone Wars began. Without guidance or influence from other galactic forces, the species remained somewhat primitive and became violent in the many struggles for control of scattered resources. Rattataki never bothered with the benefits of developing barter and trade systems, and focused their efforts on more brutal methods of murder. Rattatak was discovered by slavers, although the Rattataki were too difficult to train and too violent to contain, to be valuable as slaves. However, many gladiatorial arenas were created to find skilled warriors and raise funds for wars. The Rattataki developed and duplicated most forms of technology, mostly as a way of escalating warfare, but endless fighting prevented the development of space travel. As weapons became larger and more deadly, most of the planet’s cities were reduced to rubble and huge portions of the planet’s population became victims of mass genocide, although the Rattataki never developed weapons of planetary scale.
